That word Justice doesn’t mean what they think it means

Social Justice Warriors want to close down prisons in the name of justice. They feel prison health care is low quality. ‘Free’ health care in prison is of lower quality than the health care that Law abiding, workers receive? That’s not fair! Let’s close the prisons instead. That’ll work out great!

Earlier this year, about 2 dozen of these SJW staged a protest that predictably went violent. The local media barely mentioned it because hey, Trump isn’t involved.

God help Pittsburgh.

Kids and tech

My wife Nicole is away on a mission trip. Our youngest daughter Naomi keeps in touch via my smartphone. She texts Mom using text & emoji then an hour later they video chat. Still later they talk on the home phone. Afterwards Naomi relaxes with her  Kindle tablet. (She continues trying to over ride the parental lock).

Naomi goes from laptop to PC to tablet to smartphone without a second thought. My daughter uses technology that used to be science fiction effortlessly. She accepts her digital world. She stores her most treasured photos in the cloud.

Naomi is eight years old.

Imagine how the next generation of kids will accept Artificial Intelligence in their lives?

A Depressing Post

Depression is like gravity

Every second of every day

A pull towards unhappiness

A draining away of energy

You get tired of fighting it

One day it seems impossible to get out of bed

Colors leach out of the world

You feel unattached from life

Like a ghost haunting  your own body

Thoughts feelings memories swirl around a theme of dissatisfaction

Hopelessness and despair flank you everywhere

Depression is like  gravity you can leap up but it takes so much out of you

Help…

The above poem describes my battle against depression which began in 2005 as a result of divorce. As a single father I felt like a failed dad and a lousy Christian. Once I realized that I could not just ‘shake it off’, I tried counseling and medication. For some, that might be enough.

I eventually I turned to my faith. Forgiving my ex wife and myself made a huge difference. The joy of Lord is my strength. I became a God chaser. Intimacy with Jesus brings healing that goes deeper than any therapy or medication. Deep into your soul.

Today my heart is filled joy. I encourage others to find lasting peace with God. The trick is to find someone who has been through depression and come out the other side. Where there is Life, there is always Hope!

Why do bad things happen to the Innocent?

Why do bad things happen to the innocent? Why do babies get aborted? Why do the elderly get robbed? Why do kids get abused? In a World where most belive  in some Higher Power, why do so many do evil to one another?

The Bible describes Humanity as unique in all of creation. We were designed to relate to God as His kids. The key word is relate. We’re designed to maintain a relationship with our Creator. As a consequence, He imbued us with the ability to make choices. We can choose to love or hate God.

Genesis 3 recounts how the first two humans Adam and Eve were tricked into sinning. They introduced Evil into Paradise. Not only did Sin effect human born from Adam & Eve but the planet and animals were affected as well.

If you study the entire Bible, you realize God knew Humanity would screw up. Think about that, He knew giving them a Will (the ability to choose) that sooner or later they would mess up. Apparently the  desire to have relationship was strong enough for God to take the risk of being rejected by his own creation.  Again, before he molded Adam in His likeness, God already knew the results. He knew sin would soil Paradise. He knew World War One and Two woul kill millions. God saw sex trafficking, abortion and rape. He saw every robbery, every abused wife. He decided He would endure the pollution of His planet because He was determined to relate YOU!

Jeremiah 1:5  Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.

Ephesians 1:4 He chose us before the foundation of the World.

Ephesians 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

So bad things happen because humans have the ability to choose to do good or evil. We have polluted the planet with the Sin. Killer disease, earthquakes and murder all derive from the same fateful decision to disobey God.

God decided that He solve our quandary; He would come to Earth as an infant, live a  perfectly sin free life and pay the price for all of our sins. Revelation 13:8 calls Jesus the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

God created Humanity, aware of how things would unfold but He created a solution to the Sin problem. We can do evil or we can accept Jesus gift of Salvation. When people ask why a just God would Evil to flourish, answer: He has given us all choice. Choose life! Choose Jesus!
